Neurology Residency Faculty

Dr. Scott Blumenthal is a board certified Neurologist and diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is affiliated with Delray Medical Center and is in private practice with South Florida Neurology Associates, PA. Dr. Blumenthal graduated from Des Moines University where he earned his Doctor of Osteopathic degree. He then went on to complete his Internship at Thomas Jefferson University. He completed his Neurology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he was Chief Resident in his final year of residency. Dr. Blumenthal completed a Fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology with EMG emphasis at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. Sajeel Chowdhary is a board certified Neurologist and diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.  He is the Director of Medical Neuro-Oncology for Marcus Neuroscience Institute, and the Director of the Neuro-Oncology Program with Lynn Cancer Institute at Boca Raton Regional Hospital.

Dr. Chowdhary graduated from King Edward Medical College in Lahore Pakistan where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. He completed his Translational internship at Thomas Jefferson University. He then went on to complete his Neurology residency at Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. He also completed a fellowship in Neuro-Oncology at the University of Calgary with Tom Baker Cancer Center in Canada.

Dr. Patricio S. Espinosa is a board certified Neurologist and diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is also certified in Neuroimaging by the Council of Neurologic Specialties. Dr. Espinosa is Chief of Neurology for Marcus Neuroscience Institute at Boca Raton Regional Hospital. He graduated from Universidad Central del Ecuador where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. Dr. Espinosa also received a Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He completed his Internal Medicine internship and his Neurology residency at University of Kentucky. He went on to complete a fellowship in Epilepsy and Sleep Disorders at Brigham and Woman’s Hospital with Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Espinosa has more than 25 papers in such prestigious publications as Journal of Neurology, Journal of Clinical Neurology and Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease. He is also author of one textbook and six book chapters. He has participated in over 30 clinical trials and research projects in Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Epilepsy, Migraine and Stroke.

Dr. Marc Feinberg is a Board Certified Neurologist. He has been in practice with South Florida Neurology Associates, practicing general neurology in Boca Raton and Delray Beach, Florida since July 1995.

He completed his Neurology Residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami Medical Center from 1992-1995. Dr. Feinberg did his Medical Internship at Staten Island University Hospital from 1991-1992. He graduated medical school AOA from SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn/Downstate Medical Center in 1991. Dr. Feinberg received his BS degree from SUNY Center at Binghamton.

He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, Palm Beach Medical Society and the Florida Medical Association. He is on staff at Delray Medical Center, Pinecrest Rehabilitation Hospital and Fair Oaks Psychiatric Hospital.

Dr. Feinberg is the FAU Neurology Residency Site Director at Delray Medical Center and serves on the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) and Program Evaluation Committee (PEC).

Dr. Thomas Hammond is a board certified Neurologist and diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is also certified in Neuroimaging by the Council of Neurologic Specialties. He is affiliated with Marcus Neuroscience Institute, Boca Care Physicians Network and Boca Raton Regional Hospital.

Dr. Hammond graduated from New York University School of Medicine where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. He completed an Internal Medicine residency from Brookdale Hospital Medical Center and his Neurology Residency from Mt. Sinai Medical Center where he was Chief Resident in his final year of residency.

Dr. Hammond was Medical Director of American Parkinson’s Disease Association, South Florida Chapter for twenty years. He has been listed annually in Castle Connolly Top Doctors in the United States since 1999.

Dr. Jonathan Harris is a board certified Neurologist and diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is affiliated with Marcus Neuroscience Institute and Boca Raton Regional Hospital. He graduated from University of Pennsylvania where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. Dr. Harris completed his Internal Medicine residency, and a residency in Neurology with University of Miami. He also trained at National Institute of Health in Bethesda as a Senior Staff Fellow in Neuroimmunology.

Dr. Adel Helmy is a board certified Neurologist with special qualification in Child Neurology, and diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is also a board certified in General Pediatrician through the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Helmy is affiliated with Boca Raton Regional Hospital, and is in private practice. He graduated from Ain Shams University School of Medicine in Cairo Egypt where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. He then went on to complete his residency in Pediatrics at Brookdale Medical Center in Brooklyn New York, and a Fellowship in Pediatric Neurology from Nassau County Medical Center in East Meadow New York.

Dr. Sameea Husain Wilson is a board certified Neurologist and diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is an Associate Professor of Neurology at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine, Florida Atlantic University. She is also the Director of Movement Disorder Neurology at the Marcus Neuroscience Institute at Boca Raton Regional Hospital.  Dr. Husain graduated from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine where she earned her Doctor of Osteopathic degree. She then completed her Neurology residency at St. Louis University School of Medicine. She did her fellowship in Movement Disorders at the prestigious Muhammad Ali Parkinson's Center at the Barrow Neurological Institute.  She has participated in over 50 clinical trials related to Parkinson's Disease, Huntington's Disease, Alzheimer's disease, migraine and post-herpetic neuralgia. Dr Wilson has presented at numerous professional societies including the Parkinson's Symposium Group, American Academy of Neurology meeting and the Movement Disorders Society Congress, and has authored several peer-reviewed publications.

Dr. Roy Katzin is a board certified Neurologist and diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is affiliated with Delray Medical Center, and is in private practice with South Florida Neurology Associates, PA. Dr. Katzin graduated from University of Miami Miller School of Medicine where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. Dr. Katzin also completed his Internal Medicine internship at Medical University of South Carolina and his Neurology residency at University of Miami Hospitals and Clinics. His area of interest includes Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia, Cerebrovascular Disease, Epilepsy, Headache, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders, Sleep Disorders and Vertigo.

Dr. Ralph Z. Kern received an MD degree from Queen’s University in Canada, completed neurology postgraduate training at McGill University in Montreal, Canada and at the National Hospital for Neurological Disease in London UK, and was a research fellow in pediatric neurology at the Hospital for Sick Children at the University of Toronto. Subsequently he completed a Masters of Health Administration at the Institute for Health Management Policy and Evaluation at the University of Toronto. He was head of the post graduate academic neurology program at the University of Toronto, and practiced neuromuscular neurology at Mount Sinai Hospital and the University Health Network in Toronto prior to joining the biotechnology industry. At Genzyme, Novartis and Biogen he led global teams involved in the development of therapies for several lysosomal storage diseases, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular and neurodegenerative diseases. He is currently Chief Operating Officer and Chief Medical Officer at BrainStorm Cell Therapeutics. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Dr. Joseph Kleinman is a board certified in Diagnostic Radiologist through the American Board of Radiology. He is affiliated with Boca Radiology Group, PA and Boca Raton Regional Hospital. Dr. Kleinman graduated from University of Health Sciences/The Chicago School of Medicine where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. Dr. Kleinman then went on to complete his Diagnostic Radiology residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center. He also completed a Diagnostic Radiology with subspecialty training in CT/MRI/US fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center.

Dr. Ali R. Malek is board certified in Neurology, Vascular Neurology, and Neurocritical Care.  He is affiliated with Delray Medical Center and is in private practice with Palm Beach Neuroscience Institute.  Dr. Malek attended the American University of the Caribbean where he graduated from medical school. He then went on to complete his Internal Medicine internship, and Neurology residency at the University of South Florida and was Chief Resident in his final year. Dr. Malek also completed Fellowships in Vascular and Critical Care Neurology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham under the Pioneer of Interventional Neurology.

Dr. Naadira F. McClain is a board certified Neurologist and diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is affiliated with Delray Medical Center and is in private practice with South Florida Neurology Associates, PA. She graduated from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey where she earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree. Dr. McClain completed her Internal Medicine internship and her Neurology residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Dr. McClain also completed a Neurophysiology fellowship with the University of Maryland. Dr. McClain’s special interests include neuromuscular disorders and electrophysiology.

Dr. Nadir Osman is a board certified Neurologist and diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is in private practice with Comprehensive Neurology & Sleep Center. Dr. Osman graduated from Kharkov State Medical University where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. He also holds a Master of Science in Medical Research degree from Wayne State University. Dr. Osman completed his Internal Medicine internship at Joseph Mercy Hospital. He then went on to complete his Neurology residency from University of Michigan, and a fellowship in Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Pooja Sureja Patel is a board certified Neurologist and diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry.  She is affiliated with Marcus Neuroscience Institute and Boca Raton Regional Hospital. Dr. Patel graduated from St. George’s University School of Medicine where she earned her Doctor of Medicine degree.  She completed her Neurology residency from University of South Florida in Tampa, and then went on to complete a Clinical Neurophysiology fellowship. Her clinical interests include epilepsy and headaches. She is also interested in education and research in epilepsy.

Dr. Joannes J. A. Paul is a board certified Neurologist and diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is affiliated with Delray Medical Center and is in private practice with South Florida Neurology Associates, PA.  He graduated from Ross University School of Medicine where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree.  Dr. Paul went on to complete an internship in Internal Medicine at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, and a residency in Neurology. He also completed a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.  Dr. Paul’s special interests include neuromuscular disorders and Electrodiagnostic testing.

Dr. Jonathan Shapir is a board certified in Diagnostic Radiologist through the American Board of Radiology. He is affiliated with Boca Radiology Group, PA and Boca Raton Regional Hospital. Dr. Shapir graduated from McGill University in Montreal Quebec where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree.  Dr. Shapir completed a Rotating Internship from Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, Quebec, and then went on to compete his Diagnostic Radiology residency.  Dr. Shapir also completed a Neuroradiology fellowship at Montreal Neurological Hospital.

Dr. Craig Silverman is a board certified in Diagnostic Radiologist through the American Board of Radiology. He is affiliated with Boca Radiology Group, PA and Boca Raton Regional Hospital.  Dr. Silverman graduated from University of South Florida College of Medicine where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. He then went on to complete his Diagnostic Radiology residency at Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and was Chief Resident for two consecutive years. Dr. Silverman also completed a Neuroradiology fellowship at Shands Teaching Hospital with University of Florida College of Medicine.

Dr. David Silvers relocated his neurology practice from the northeast and opened a solo practice in Palm Beach County in 2014. Dr. Silvers completed his undergraduate studies at Princeton University (1986) and graduated from Tufts Medical School (1990). He completed his neurology residency at the Harvard Longwood Medical Center (1995) and his neuromuscular/electromyography fellowship at Brown University (Rhode Island Hospital, 1996). Dr. Silvers is board certified in Neurology, Electromyography, and is a diplomate of Neuromuscular Medicine. He has been on the Top Doctors list since 2010.

Dr. Silvers has over 20 years of experience in private practice diagnosing and treating neurological disorders. At the time of his relocation, he was an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Connecticut Medical School and is currently a Voluntary Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Miami. Dr. Silvers is committed towards giving his patients the best neurological care while emphasizing the doctor-patient relationship. Dr. Silvers’ interests include general neurology, neuromuscular disease/electromyography, movement disorders such as Parkinson Disease, cognitive impairment, and sleep disorders.

Dr. Silvers has published several case reports in highly regarded journals including Neurology, Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry, and Muscle and Nerve. He has been awarded the Teaching Award on 2 occasions by the neurology residents at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He is currently an ad hoc reviewer for the journal Neurology.

Dr. Marc Swerdloff is a board certified Neurologist and diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is affiliated with Marcus Neuroscience Institute and Boca Raton Regional Hospital. Dr. Swerdloff graduated from Albany Medical College where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. Dr. Swerdloff completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Albany Medical College Hospital. He then went on to complete his Neurology residency at University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Swerdloff also completed an Electromyography fellowship with University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Department of Neurology.

Dr. Swerdloff has authored and co-authored articles in notable peer-reviewed publications as Journal of Clinical Neuro-Ophthalmology, Archives of Neurology and Electroencephalography and Clinical Neurophysiology. His area of interest include Electromyography; General Neurology; Migraine; Myasthenia Gravis; Peripheral Neuropathy and Stroke.

Dr. Frank Vrionis is a board certified Neurosurgeon through the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He is the Director of Marcus Neuroscience Institute and Chairman for the Department of Neurosurgery at Boca Raton Regional Hospital. Dr. Vrionis graduated from University of Athens School of Medicine where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. He also holds a Master in Public Health degree from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. from Duke University in Tumor Immunology. He completed his Neurosurgery residency at Tufts University, and he completed a fellowship in Skull-base Surgery from Semmes-Murphey Clinic and Department of Surgery with University of Tennessee.

Dr. Wiener then completed his Diagnostic Radiology residency, and a Neuroradiology fellowship at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology with Washington University School of Medicine.
